Construction Layout

For new home and building construction, staking is often required by a licensed land surveyor. The surveyor takes the architect or engineers site plan and lays it out on the ground. Wooden stakes are usually set at all building corners along with offset reference stakes. The stakes are also located vertically and referenced to the design datum so the contractor can establish the finished floor and roof heights. Critical to all building projects are the building to property line setback requirements and also the roof height restrictions.
